Visits, errands, or accompaniment for seniors downtown
Santé et services sociaux Yellow Door and Entraide Bénévole Métro are two non-profit organizations working together under one mission: build a more connected, inclusive, and caring community where older adults can age with dignity, autonomy, and support. Through this partnership, we’re building a shared network of trained volunteers to support seniors in downtown Montréal and Westmount to support the many older adults in our area who live alone, face isolation, or are experiencing a temporary or permanent loss of autonomy. As a volunteer, you’ll help them stay independent and connected to their community. Commitment - Minimum of 2 hours per week - Minimum of 3 months - We especially need volunteers available Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but evening and weekend availability is also welcome!

Tâches
On a weekly or as-needed basis, volunteers may:
Accompaniments: escort seniors to medical appointments, helping them while walking and getting in and out of vehicles (3-4 hours)
Grocery shopping and errands: shop for or with a senior, and carry groceries and other items (1-2 hours)
Friendly visits: spend time with a senior at home offering conversation and companionship (1-2 hours)
Compétences recherchées
Sense of responsibility, autonomy, active-listening, and feelings of appreciation and care towards seniors.

Entraide Bénévole Métro est un organisme à but non-lucratif situé au centre-ville de Montréal, qui a été créé en 1985 par la fusion de plusieurs groupes bénévoles du CLSC Métro. Nous fournissons des services offerts par des bénévoles et animons des activités pour personnes âgées qui ont perdu leur autonomie temporairement ou en permanence. Nous désservons les territoires du centre-ville-ouest et Westmount. Created in 1985 through the fusion of volunteer groups of the CLSC Métro, Entraide Bénévole Métro (EBM) is a non-profit organization operating in downtown Montreal. We provide services through volunteers and organize activities for seniors experiencing temporary or permanent loss of autonomy. We service those who live in the Downtown West and Westmount sectors of Montreal.
